War Correspondence
Glenn was drafted in 1942 into the army and served over in the European theater. He traveled between England, North Africa, Italy, Germany, and France. The end of the war in the Pacific spared him from being transferred. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
World War II interrupted George's education when he was drafted in 1943 after two deferments. George also served in the European theater in the army. He was honorably discharged from his station in Frankfurt, Germany, in February 1946.
During their military service, Glenn and George wrote to their parents often assuring them of their safety and sharing their frustrations. Their letters detail their experience as soldiers and their longing for home.
